Gloucester Civic Trust Street Survey Group

The Street Survey Group was resurrected some 4 years ago. The Survey Group consists of Gloucester Civic Trust members who together watch over our street scene, historic buildings, plaques and monuments. The Survey Groups follows National Civic Trust guidelines:

Richard Curzon - a member of the Street Survey Group monitoring plaques and monuments

Ensuring City regeneration complements existing historic buildings
Striving for vibrant communities for all those who live and work there
Helping to enhance the evening and night time economy
Save our Streets Campaign - ensuring our street scene is clean, pleasant and attractive
Monitoring of Plaques and Scheduled Ancient Monuments
Our Achievements:

Successfully cleared up many city centre fly tips
In 2004/05 we surveyed all the buildings in Gloucester's Gate Streets
Re-edcuated take aways and street cafes on the laws concerning pavement cafes on how to keep them clean
Had meetings with Gloucester City Council to make them toughen up on environmental Legislation
Re-established the Civic Awards in 2006
Took over the management of St Michael's Tower August 2007
Organised Activity Days to clean up Heritage Sites such as the Jubilee Gardens and St Mary de Crypt
Currently we are making a DVD on all our Monuments and Plaques which will tell the "Gloucester Story"
We have fun walking our City and making a difference.
